Yes, if America is truly diverse and forward thinking (and not overly vulnerable to stolen elections) then it's likely we are indeed in for the change about which he so passionately speaks.
This election is not a shoe in for Mr. Obama. Not by any stretch of the imagination can one entertain the notion of Sen. McCain being trounced here. There are so many unforgotten enmities at play in this day and age (though maybe not as many as 20 years ago) and even a record turnout of young voters isn’t enough to guarantee much for the democrats on this one. Mr. Obama will most certainly have to remain smart and supple in debates and responses to media attacks (of which there will be far too many). After all the so-called liberal elite media won’t hold back against either camp once the smear machine starts into high gear. The highest road taken ought to emerge victorious on the other end in an ideal world.
This is not an ideal world and this election will go down in history for at least one reason. We shouldn’t hold our breaths that the obvious one will be the only reason. A dreary realization of just how nasty and ill- tempered the sickening gnawing of clashing ideologies will be is now beginning to form in our unconscious political bones. Gird yourself for the election ride of a lifetime folks. It’s not over 'till it's over.
Beyond such “old and in the way” tactics; suppose we actually had an election which stayed positive and focused on issues (of course this is a dream we dare not accept as a possibility) then Mr. Obama's “tonic drinkers” would soon enough have their way and the voters would certainly reject another 4 – 8 years of republican control of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
Best we pray for all parties involved in this one. There is a lot riding on this for America and the rest of the world.
